Aztec Architecture
For Aztec architecture, cosmology, astronomy and religion were key influences. The temples reflected their beliefs and their culture, especially the sacrificial rituals held on top of the temples. Other Aztec architecture also showed elegance, power and boldness with their use of colors and symbols that created a unique style. Such symbols included, the Eagle (representing sun and warriors), Serpents (represented water or fire), Conch shell (representing fertility), and Frogs or sea creatures (representing Tlaloc Symbols).
Aztec Achievements
One of the achievements of this empire was the chinampas which were floating gardens. They also invented causeways which were routes that went over dry or wetlands. This empire was also one of the first to have mandatory education for everyone. The Aztecs also practiced advanced medicine including surgery and they used a type of medicine to relax muscles during surgery. They also used the Passion flower for herbal remedies of insomnia, high blood pressure and epilepsy.
